From Reality TV to Wedding Reality: It's All About Producing Perfection
As a former TV producer turned wedding coordinator, let me tell you—coordinating weddings and producing reality TV shows are exactly the same thing. And yes, I mean that in the best way possible!
Both require vision, attention to detail, and the ability to handle all the chaos behind the scenes so the final product feels flawless. When I plan a wedding, I’m not just crossing off a checklist—I’m manifesting a live production. I start by picturing everything in my mind, from the venue down to the pose for the cake cutting, and when I close my eyes, I can see how every moment will unfold, just like I did on set for TV.
Here’s a funny story about how that vision paid off at one wedding I coordinated. The brides wanted a beautiful outdoor ceremony on a roof top overlooking Disneyland, but on the big day, the weather had other plans—hello, rainstorm and cancelled Fireworks. Then the wind picked up and knocked over the vintage mirror Seating Chart, broken glass everywhere, I'm trying not to lose my head. I was thinking, "Well, we can either cancel the wedding, or I can save the day!"
So, just like I did on set when a last-minute change of plans was needed, I immediately pivoted. I came up with a plan to stick the seating chart to a wall, the officiant helped me (she's my new Bestie). I asked the florist (my other new Bestie) for flowers to make it pretty, and somehow managed to convince the catering staff to bring in heaters and a backup plan for the outdoor photos. All while keeping the brides and guests totally unaware of the potential meltdown happening outside, yet it was like watching the credits roll on a perfect episode!
As a wedding coordinator, I build a team—just like I did with TV crews. I work closely with florists, photographers, DJs, and caterers, ensuring everything flows seamlessly. Timing is everything. The coordination needs to be perfect. But unlike TV, the couple isn’t reading a script—they’re living their dream, and it’s my job to make sure it’s delivered perfectly.
So, from producing TV shows to producing weddings, it’s all about creating a live event that’s flawless in execution. Whether it’s cameras or guests, every detail matters. And in the end, everyone leaves with a smile—and a beautiful memory of the day.
In the world of wedding coordination, I don’t just plan—I produce. And trust me, it’s just as much fun as a TV Talk Show (without the drama, of course)!
